Material used to build those cabinets and furniture (chipboard, MDF Board, Plywood, Block-board & etc.) may continue to off-gassing Formaldehyde gas.

Formaldehyde gas is classified as carcinogenic to human. Long term exposure to high level of Formaldehyde over a long period of time will have greater chance of getting sore or throat cancer.

Symptoms of Formaldehyde Pollution

"New furniture smell" is often caused by chemical released from engineered board used to make the product.

Due to the excessive interior decoration and the lack of appropriate regulation and control strategy, sometimes the cancer risk caused by formaldehyde is 10 to 50 times greater than the acceptable level in many office and houses.

The health effects of formaldehyde have been evaluated by several working groups. The main acute effects, which have been reported after exposure to gaseous formaldehyde are odor perception and irritation of the eyes, nose and throat.

In addition, depending on the concentration, discomfort, sneezing, coughing, and nausea have been observed. Generally, symptoms are subject to adaptation.
